Dear Sarah,
Thank you for writing to Born Free USA expressing your concern over Tony's welfare. It is people like yourself who can help Tony by simply making more people aware of his situation. Born Free USA is currently working with other animal welfare groups in an effort to get Tony released. Wh...ile this situation is particularly difficult because Tony's owner has a legal permit to keep him, we are hoping for some success!
We will be drafting a letter to J. Mitchell Ourso, President of Iberville Parish, to let him know of our involvement with efforts to remove Tony from his owner's care, as well as reaching out to local newspapers in the hopes to get more articles published locally for more exposure.
Also, we are hoping to receive support from Senator Landrieu of Louisiana. We plan to post an action alert on our website this month addressing the plight of Tony, asking for public support by writing letters to Congress.
At this point, we feel one of the best ways to help Tony is to educate more people of his dire situation, and try to help his owner realize how it will benefit both he and Tony by releasing him.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Maggie Graham, Program Associate
